Local Rock Icons Help Restart Northwest Music Scene

Hot Rocks 2nd Annual Music Awards to be Held on March 28th

Hot Rocks, a locally based TV show, which films local bands to promote northwest talent to as many people and places as we can, is holding the 2nd Annual Hot Rocks Music Awards on Sunday, March 28th. Special guests at the Awards include Michael Shrieve (from Santana), The Magic Carpet Ride (featuring Goldy McJohn formerly of Steppenwolf), Randy Hansen, Sin Circus, and Blue Thunder (of the Seattle Seahawks). The event will be hosted by Steve Rock from KISW FM 99.9

“The idea behind the Awards show is to help kick-start the local ‘music machine’ that was once the birthplace for musicians such as Roger Fisher of Heart, Cobain and all of the rest,” says Tom Olsen, Executive Producer for Hot Rocks.

The Hot Rocks Music Awards will be aired live on SCAN, which is Comcast channel 77 and Broadstripe channel 23 in Seattle and most of King County. The show will also be streamed live at www.scantv.org. The event has outgrown the Triple Door requiring its move to the larger venue at the Lynnwood Convention Center.

Olsen and his crew created 12 award categories and selected nominees that will be judged by representatives of Hot Rocks’ sponsors. Examples of categories are: Best Drummer, Best Male Singer, Best Female Singer, Best Band People’s Choice Award, and Best Live Performance.
